Accident Update
Thursday August 5th
Mickala finished her last PT/OT sessions and met with her doctor concerning continued physical therapy, medications, and future orthopedic treatment. She feels very blessed to have had a great therapist and medical staff. She is more confident and prepared to return home today. Much thanks to Gary and Jimmy for making her home handicap accessible.
Mickala is a little nervous about the flight as her leg has to be kept straight. Pray for helpful Flight Attendants as she changes planes in Dallas.
Monday August 1st
Brad saw plastic surgeon this week. There is nerve damage which will affect
his brow expression but otherwise is healing nicely and brow will likely
improve over time. He is beginning to feel the pain from his broken ribs.
Mickala had stiches and staples removed today and continues with physical
and occupational therapy. It is the therapists goal to have Mickala mobile
enough to return home from Austin on August 5th. Due to bone loss in her
leg, Mickala will likely have a bone graft further down the road.
Trey is recovering at home and will be getting his staples out soon. He too
will require therapy after 8 weeks.
We all grieve the loss of Karah beyond what words can express and that is a
wound only our Savior can heal.
The families thank you for your continued prayers and support.
Tuesday 27th
Mickala will need to stay in therapy until Aug. 5th. They want her to be as strong as possible before going home to care for her children. She will be non-weight bearingn left side for 6 - 8 weeks
Saturday 24th
Friday was Mickala's first day of therapy. She did fairly well. She is learning to do tasks like wheelchair usage, dressing, bathing, and other basic skills for living. She is working on over all strength. She will have an evaluation at the end of the week to determine the need for an additional week of therapy.
Brad has a follow up appointment with his surgeon late next week.
Trey is doing better. He has a long road ahead of him as well. He will have a follow-up visit with his doctor in a couple of weeks.
Praying Zephaniah 3:17 over these and the Northcutt family: The Lord your God is with you. He is mighty to save. He will take great delight in you. He will quiet you with His love. He will rejoice over you with singing.
Thursday 22nd
Brad's surgery went well. Mickala will likely be moved to Reliant Rehab Hospital in Round Rock tomorrow where she will go through physical therapy and learn to function in a wheelchair for the next 6 weeks. She will likely need 2 additional surgeries at that time.
Psalm 34:18 The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.
2 Corinthians 1:3-4 Praise be to God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God.
Wednesday 21st
Trey has been discharged.
Brad will have plastic surgery on the side of his head today.
Mickala is improving. She has a compound fracture of the femur and may need a bone graft because part of the bone is
missing. She has three fractured bones in her wrist, and has an external bar with screws through the skin to immobilize it.
She will be admitted to a re-hab hospital in the area when she is released.
Tuesday 20th
Services are under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory in Midland. A visitation is scheduled from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, and the service is planned for 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Stonegate Fellowship, 6000 W. Wadley Ave.
Monday 19th
The staff and church family of Stonegate Fellowship are mourning the loss of
one of our team members. Karah Brooks, our student ministry staff assistant,
was killed in a boating accident on Lake LBJ late Saturday night. Another
staff member, Mickala Murdock, was injured in that accident and is
recovering in an Austin hospital along with her brother, Brad Murdock and a
family friend, Trey Harper. Funeral services are pending with Nalley, Pickle
& Welch and we will have that information as soon as it becomes available.
Please be in prayer for Karah's family as they walk through this difficult
time. We would also ask you to please be praying for the continued recovery
of Mickala, Brad and Trey.
We will update with more information as we
receive it.
