About Stonegate Fellowship Church
In the late 1980s, First Baptist Church of Midland had a vision of planting a mission church to reach the people of Northwest Midland.
A severe economic downturn in the oil-based Midland economy put such plans on hold. The plans were resurrected in the late 1990s, and the pieces of what would ultimately become Stonegate Fellowship began to come together.
In 1998, First Baptist Church put together a New Church Start Committee and, shortly thereafter, a Pastor Search Committee for the yet unnamed "new church". First Baptist Church not only agreed to release a good number of its membership to start the new church, but also committed $300,000 of its budget surplus as "start-up" funding for the new church.
On August 15, 1999 Stonegate opened its doors to the public. Since then, Stonegate Fellowship has experienced incredible blessings from God.
