SGLife
All the romantic fairy tales seem to end with “and they all lived happily ever after”.
The story is all about the pursuit
and acquisition of a relationship.
The obstacles are somehow
overcome and true happiness
is finally here when the two
people can be together forever.
The implication is that the real
work is involved in just getting
the relationship, and once that is
accomplished, everything else
just falls into place. What a tragic
lie. All relationships require effort,
attention, and time if they are to
continue to grow.
As believers, we tend to
apply this same thought process
to our relationship with God. We
think that after salvation, we
live happily ever after. Weeks,
months or perhaps even years
pass, and there has been little or
no growth. Our witness is weak,
our faith is low, and we just don’t
feel close to God anymore. While
our walk with the Lord is different
from other relationships, in many
ways they are the same. If we
don’t pay attention, it begins to
suffer.
There is no such thing as
a cruise control for any of our
significant relationships. If we
do nothing to cultivate a rich
marriage, it will eventually die.
If we do not spend time with
our children, they will become
strangers to us and we will lose
influence in their lives. If we do
not intentionally develop our
relationship with the Lord, then
we will lose the “spark” and joy
that ought to permeate every
believer’s life.
The purpose of SGLife is
to facilitate intentional growth
through learning in a small group
setting. Whether you are just
beginning your journey with the
Lord, or are a long time Christ-
Follower, there is a course that
will help your growth.
