Stonegate Fellowship Solid Rock KidsIn Solid Rock Kids we strive to have a fun, exciting, age-appropriate environment where children take part in an interactive Bible lessons and activities.  Everything is based off a monthly theme that will parallel the Children’s Ministries at Stonegate.  Each night your child will do a new activity that coordinates with that month’s theme and will enjoy a snack.

Our Mission

Children’s Ministries at Stonegate Fellowship exists to “tell the next generation the praiseworthy deeds of the Lord, His power, and the wonders He has done.” Psalm 78:4

COM.Kids
COM Kids is a time for your children to come and be re-enforced with that they have learned that morning in another, fun & creative way.  Each lesson is broken down to an age-appropriate level where they can learn and understand God’s word.  As well, COM.Kids is a fun-filled night with games, crafts and free play.  Dinner and snacks are provided for all age groups.  We love COM.kids and hope your kids will too!

If you have any questions or concerns, please discuss them with the teacher or the attendant at the check-in desk.  We strive to make Solid Rock Childcare a happy, comfortable place for your child any day of the week.

Sarah Yuhasz, Childcare Director

Child Behaviors

Crying
If your child cries when you bring him or her to Solid Rock Childcare, it is probably part of the normal ‘separation anxiety’ phase.  Children usually stop crying within a few moments of their parent’s departure.  Should your child continue to cry for a long period of time or becomes inconsolable you will be contacted.

Accident or Injury
In the rare event that anything should happen to your child while you are away, first aid will be administered and you will be contacted immediately.  An incident report will be completed and gone over with the parent.

Potty Training
If your child is potty training, please bring him or her to church in a pull-up and pack extra clothes.  If your child has been potty-trained for more than six weeks, he or she may wear regular underwear, but please pack a change of clothes for accidents.  Solid Rock Childcare keeps extra clothes on hand if your child needs to ‘borrow’ some clothes, you may return them the next time you come to church.

Discipline
Discipline is based on positive guidance of individual children.  Acceptable behavior is praised and inappropriate behavior is redirected.  Occasionally a child may need a short “time-out” for redirection.

Personal Belongings
Please label first and last name all personal items including jackets, clothing, blankets, bottles, pacifiers and sippy cups that belong with your child.  It is better if you do not allow your child to bring his or her own toys to Solid Rock Childcare.

Biting
Biting is a phase that some children go through and all eventually outgrow.  Biting sometimes occurs when young children are placed in-group care.  We will work diligently with the biting child and the parents to redirect this behavior and to protect other children in the nursery.

Policies and Procedures

Workers
  • All workers working with children are members of Stonegate and have had an   official background check.
  • Workers who are under the age of 18 work under the direct supervision of a   qualified adult.
  • Workers will be wearing a Solid Rock Childcare T-shirt along with a nametag.
  • Workers must be 18 years of age to change diapers and take children to the   restroom.

Children

1. Each child will be checked in through one of our computerized check in systems.  You must give the last four digits to your home phone or use your key fob.  If you need a key fob please contact Mickala Johnson at 694-5100 ext. 2014.

A two-part security tag ‘sticker’ is given to every parent for each child checking into COM Kids
a.) One part is the child’s name, room, & security code.  The other part is the security code that corresponds with your child’s tag.  The parents must retain this portion in order to pick up their child.
b.) Attach the tag to the back of your child’s clothing.
c.) Please attach a permanent Stonegate Kids tag on the child’s diaper bag if he or she has one
d.) Contact numbers will be on each child’s nametag so that you may be contacted if necessary

2. Children need to be checked in & out by parents, not by friends or siblings.

3. If you have lost the parent portion of the security tag, be prepared to show an ID to make sure that your name matches the name of your child’s tag.  While this may seem inconvenient, it is for the safety of your child.

4. Children are never left unattended and have a minimum of two workers with them at all times.

5. Children taken to the restrooms are accompanied by two workers one being 18 years of age or older
