Day 4 - Tired, Muddy and Victorious

The whole camp has been a great experience.  We have poured out our lives so see God move and heal.  And, He has….so faithful.

Day 4 - Celebration
We had an extreme makeover where Jeremy Allen, our Worship leader was transformed into Leon Reed and finally into Katherine Reed.  Students participated in a battle of the sexes that involved whipped cream…quite entertaining!  We had some blind eaters.  They destroyed some pudding.  The students watched the last upbeat video of the day.  You really need to check them out…they are great…you can see FACES!

Day 4 - Recreation - The "MUD PIT"
Well…words cannot describe….you gonna have to just look at the photos and imagine what took place.  It was GREAT!  The students loved the pit!

Day 4 - Evening Service
George W. Stepan ended the week talking about how our enemy tries with all of his might to steal our victory over sin away from us.  He did a great job giving these students practical ways of fighting through sins attempted and sometimes successful control of us.  Go check it out on the audio page.

Day 4 - Late Night
The students lines up like marines and march down to the outdoor ampitheater for some smores and singing under the stars.  A great way to finish up the week.

The students will have some activities tomorrow morning before we leave, but this wil be the last post from camp.

Please check the blog tomorrow evening for our expected arrival time back in Midland.

Day 2 & 3 - War, Coins & Purity

Thanks to all the parents for overwhelming these students with letters, packages, and comments on this blog.  These kids light UP when their name is called during mail call!  Your response has been something to celebrate.

Continued……

Day 2 Night Service
George W. Stepan may not be what most of these are used to when it comes to teaching, but THESE KIDS ARE LISTENING!  It is an amazing site to see all of these students recalling truth and practical application from the night before.  God is sweet, He is healing and saving.

Day 2 Late Night - Chaos
We played a game called assault.  Here is how the game works.  The students are divided into their four colors and given a home base on the campus.  The students have to make their way to a centralized location.  When they get inside the location they have to get their colored index card they have been carrying hole-punched.  Once their card is hole-punched they have to make their way back to their home base.  The catch, there are camp staff chasing students all over the campus trying to tag them.  Once a student is tagged their colored index card is torn in two and the student has to report back to their base for a new index card.

To make the situation even more intense, we have a couple of folks driving around on four-wheelers with spot lights.  We also had a portable sound system set up right outside of the centralized location playing war-sounds LOUDLY.  Guns going off, planes drive-bombing, soldiers taking…it was INTENSE.

We had a few students take a tumble and get hurt, but they will have glory stories to share.

Day 3 Celebration
We had a great time showing the upbeat videos (which are up at SGtv), shooting of streamers, students trying to eat bananas through pantie hose, and a dance competition.  Check out the pictures

Day 3 Rec
The students played a game with about 100 frisbees.  It is hard to explain aside from the word chaos.  The students are having a great time and are really rising to the challenge of sportsmanship and spirit.  We have colors chanting their team chants and other colors responding.  It has been sweet to see.

Day 3 Night Service
The Allen’s, who are leading worship, are doing a great job.  They have a huge heart to sing and declare the worth and beauty of God through song and instrument.  They have a new CD out.  George W. Stepan talked about how the the thief is trying to steal our purity.  All in all it was a powerful, focused message that God’s design form sex and intimacy is worth living out.

Day 3 - Late Night
We did our best to recreate bull riding in the pool.  Kids  got on an inner tube while guys at the ends of three ropes attached to the inner tube tried to pull and yank the ropes so the student fell off.  It was good.  Next we had each color gather at their flag.  We then proceeded to dumb 100 dollars of coin into the pool.  Side-Note:  if you ever want to do this…$100 of coin is WAY, WAY too much.  It was great fun.  The kids then headed to the snack shack and then to bed.

Well we will have some new pics up mid-afternoon.  Today we tackle the mud-pit!

Blessings

Day 1 and 2 - Technical Difficulties and the Cool Breeze

Parents,

Camp has been an amazing time thus far. We have battled through technical difficulties trying to get you audio(have it figured out) and video (our software is not working properly), but God has definitely blown through camp like a cool breeze.

Thank you parents for outpouring of letters, card, posts on this blog.  I think your kids love the words of love!

Well, Day 1 started off with a bang.  The buses arrived early and there was a threat of rain, so our plans changed.  The students were suppose to get off the buses and immediately complete in a relay race according to color(see pics - water guns, plates of flour, bobbing for "apples", etc.).  Instead, they went through orientation and then got their bags and headed to their rooms.

Relay Race
After taking their bags to the rooms, each student rallied with their team under their color flag to plan out their relay.  The relay started with students bobbing for small balls that absorb water, then the next student had to throw those balls 30 feet to a teammate with a 5 gallon bucket. Next, a student was tagged and had to sprint 30 yards to a teammate who then had to find three lifesavers in a plate of flour.  Following the flour, the student tagged a teammate who took a water gun and shot at a teammate under a poncho.  The poncho has an alka-selzer tablet tapped on the outside.  Once the tablet was gone they tagged a teammate with a ball, who then passed the ball over/under/over/under (with 6 of their teammates).

We are still not finished!  Next the last person in the over/under tagged a teammate who then grabbed a watter cannon a shot a teammate who was thirty feet away.  This student had to catch the water in their mouth and fill a plastic cup with the water.  After that was done, the last student was tagged and a group of students had to carry a teammate on a twin mattress over the finish line.  It was great.

Day 1 Afternoon & Night Service

The rest of the afternoon was uneventful.  The kids went to their dorm, had some free time, got dressed for dinner, and then proceeded to the evening worship service.  The service was good…great.  Jon’s father is a pastor in Denver Colorado.  He speaks in a way most of these students are not used to, but the Lord spoke through him in power and might.  Our direction for camp is John 10:10.  George spoke on the intent of our advesery the devil and the intent of of great God and King.  A few student came to trust Jesus as Lord , King and Saviour.  A few students hurts and wounds were uncovered and started the healing process.

We only encountered one problem.  The technology to record the service audio messed up. After two days of searching we finally found the problem and Day 3 audio will be clear.  The videos will be up as soon as our software glitch is found.

Day 2 Morning
The students awoke early(crazy), ate breakfast, did their devotionals, went to seminars(a 45 minute focused bible teaching (this year - Abiding in Christ John 15)), and then went to celebration. Celebration is on steroids this year!  Celebration starts off each day with a funny improve skit and then the craziness starts, we play Celebrate song from Kool and the Gang.  All you parents should know the song.  As the song is playing lights are going crazy and on day 2 the kids wre shot with water guns.

Then we did WW 2007 Ironman.  IT WAS GROSS!  One student from each color came to the stage.  Starting with the first student, they stuck their hand into a bucket and pulled out a food product.  That product has to be added to the Big Red and then that student had to take a drink.  The food items, were gross things like, baby food, spray cheese, pickle relish, etc.  The smell was gross! The kids had fun!

Next we showed the camp video and then 2 students from each color came to the front.  One student was flat on the table and thier teammate has to (with their hands above their shoulders make a ice cream Sunday on the stomach of their teammate.  The team who used all ingredients and got done first was declared the winner.  It was great fun and messy!

Recreation & Free Time

The students competed as colors in a group rec game of double kick ball.  Four kickball fields all faced each other and shared second base.  Hopefully, you can imagine this as each kickball diamond played at the same time.  It was organized chaos and all had a good time.  Second base was crazy.  You could possibly have four base runners at second.  It was great.

Each family group then went to three stations for team rec.  Four-Square Volleyball, Dodgeball Basketball, Gatorball, etc.

Free time was great.  We had a planned two hour hike led by Bonita Park Staff and a couple of our leaders.  We had paint ball.Paint ball was entertaining!  Everyone had a great time!

I have to get to a meeting.  I will finish Day 2 later this afternoon.

Peace
